FSSAI -No late fee till 31-07-2020 for making application for renewal of licence that expired during lockdown

The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) vide an order dated 18th June 2020 has extended the grace period till 31st July 2020 for Food Business Operators (FBOs) for applying for renewal of licence/ registration which are expired or expiring during the period from 22nd March 2020 till  31st July 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The same extension is granted for Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for period from 1st August 2019 till 31st July 2020.

FSSAI vide a previous order dated 13th April 2020 held that since there is a restriction in movement because of the pan-India lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FBOs have not been able to file applications for renewal of their FSSAI licenses and registration. Reviewing the situation, FSSAI granted grace period till 30th June 2020 for filling applications for renewal of FSSAI licenses/registration without any late fees.

Since the COVID-19 lockdown is still compelling, FSSAI vide this current order dated 18th June 2020 has granted further extension to the grace period till 31st July 2020. Thus, as per this order , till 31st July 2020, all FBOs are allowed to make application for renewal of license / registration which are expired or expiring during the period from 22nd March 2020 to 31st July 2020 without paying any late fee; and those FBOs re permitted to temporarily operate their food business till 31st July 2020.
