CBDT reduces TDS/TCS rates for non-salaried payments

Central Board of Direct Taxes vide a press release dated 13th May 2020 has announced reduction in rate of Tax Deduction at Source(TDS) and Tax Collection at Source(TCS) for non-salaried person to provide more money in the hands of taxpayers to deal with the economic situation arising out of COVID-19 pandemic. These relaxations are effective for the payments made from 14th May,2020 to 31st March,2021. However, there shall be no reduction in rates of TDS or TCS, where the tax is required to be deducted or collected at higher rate due to non-furnishing of PAN/Aadhaar. The new reduced rates of TDS as per the press release are as follows-
