Kerala orders Paid Holiday on the Polling Day i,e. 21-10-2019

The Kerala government by an order dated 9th October 2019 has announced the declaration of public holiday or paid holiday on 21st October 2019 due to poll in connection with bye- election in 5 constituencies namely- Manjeshwar, Ernakulam, Aroor, Konni and Vittiyoorkavu. This holiday is declared on public interest to facilitate the employed persons to exercise their franchise in the Bye- Elections, 2019. The paid holiday on 21st October 2019 shall be available to employees including casual workers who are resident of the said 5 constituencies and registered as voter in the 5 constituencies.

The public holiday for this bye-election is granted to the employees with the following conditions:

  1. This holiday shall be available to employees who are resident of the 5 constituencies or registered as voter in the 5 constituencies where poll is taking place.
  2. Employees who are employed in any private enterprise, private industrial center, and other private institutions under Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1960.
  3. No deduction shall be made from the wages of the employees on account of holiday granted in 21st October 2019.
  4. The employees who are working outside of their constituency, holiday is granted on the date of polling in their constituency so that they can go and caste their valuable vote.
