Haryana Declares paid Holiday for Shops and Establishments on Lok Sabha Election

The Haryana government has announced the declaration of public holiday or paid holiday on the day of polling of the Lok Sabha elections as per Section 10 of Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1958. This Holiday is available to the employees of:

  1. Shops and Establishments situated in Haryana, and
  2. All employees/workers of Haryana and the employees who are from neighboring states of NCT Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh working in Haryana.

Polling for Lok Sabha elections in Haryana and its neighboring states will be held in different states starting from 11th April 2019 to 19th May 2019.

This holiday is declared on public interest to facilitate the employed persons to exercise their franchise in the General Elections to Lok Sabha, 2019. The employees who are even working outside of their constituency, holiday is granted on the date of polling in their constituency so that they can go and caste their valuable vote.
