Employees contribution to be paid within 15 days of the calendar month

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has changed the last date for payment of ESI contribution effective from July 2017. This new Regulation is called Employees State Insurance (General) Amendment Regulations, 2017 under which the last date for payment of the contribution to ESIC by employers without interest and penalty for the particular month is the 15th day of the subsequent month.
Before the amendment, an employer who is liable to pay contributions in respect of any employee had to pay the contributions within 21 days of the last day of the calendar month in which the contributions fall due. But by this new amendment, the time period 21 days is changed to 15 days. This new provision is effective from the from the time of payment of contribution for the month of June 2017, that means by 15th July 2017.
